Veterans Service, Health Education and Community Services
Who are homeless veterans?
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) states the nation’s homeless veterans are predominantly male, with roughly five percent being female. The majority of them are single; come from urban areas; and suffer from mental illness, alcohol and/or substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders. About one-third of the adult homeless population are veterans. Roughly 56 percent of all homeless veterans are African American or Hispanic, despite only accounting for 12.8 percent and 15.4 percent of the U.S. population respectively.
****ODRC, Inc. will address this issue by assisting veterans with housing, benefits and readjusting to life.
Health Education
For most people today to succeed in life, they must learn to read, write, and master mathematics. Perhaps less apparent, however, is the fact that problems can adversely affect one's life and health, but also their ability to learn. Such physical, mental, and emotional health problems causes individuals to have lack of energy, be distracted or have significant problems.
******ODRC, Inc. will address this through counseling, case management, living skills, and use of our resource center.
Community Service
It's easy to feel disconnected, as many people within the community and families juggle work, school, kids, and activity after activity. Volunteerism also sets a good example for your kids and helps the community.
******ODRC, Inc. plans to address this by holding various seminars, classes and health fairs within the community at churches, community centers, nursing homes and here at our office.
